House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) reportedly wants to meet with President Joe Biden in an apparent bid to renegotiate their months-old budget deal as McCarthy desperately seeks to appease House Republican hard-liners â who are demanding radical spending cuts â and avert a government shutdown as soon as Oct. 1.
Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) wasnât having McCarthyâs new demand, though.
On Tuesday, the New York congresswoman wrote on X, formerly Twitter, that McCarthy had âalready got his meetingâ with Biden when they struck the deal earlier this year.
âDeal is done,â she added. âBiden held his end. Nothing to relitigate.â
Then she wrote that McCarthy can âgo pound sand.â
McCarthy already got his meeting w/ Biden and they struck a deal to keep gov open months ago. GOP held the entire US gov hostage in exchange for cuts & forced restart of student loan payments.

Later Tuesday, Ocasio-Cortez taunted McCarthy with the âboy mathâ meme that spread across social media â in the wake of the âgirl mathâ meme â over the summer.
âBoy math is needing 15 attempts to count the votes correctly to become Speaker and then shutting down the government 9 months later,â she wrote, mocking McCarthyâs lengthy, 15-ballot election process and what could be a serious consequence.
