Anderson was placed under arrest and charged with carrying a concealed firearm in an establishment licensed to sell alcohol.
On Sept. 9, Shane Adcox, 55, was arrested for carrying a Glock 43 handgun into the same bar. In the arrest report, a witness noticed the firearm when Adcox raised his shirt to show the witness a surgical scar. After seeing the handgun, the witness contacted police.
âContact was made with the listed subject inside Peteâs Bar consuming alcohol,â the arrest report read. âThe suspect was escorted outside the establishment and detained. Listed Property #1 (Glock handgun) was located in the suspectâs right-side waistband.â

Neptune Beach police chief Michael Key said the situation couldâve gone south, quickly.
âItâs a perfect recipe — itâs a powder keg,â Key said. âAnd all itâs going to take is just one little small match. That is potentially going to end someoneâs life or forever change their life.â
Chief Key said there is no reason to bring a gun inside a bar.
âOur big thing is this, come to the beaches, come to Neptune Beach, enjoy our establishments,â Key said. âIf you are going to decide to go into a bar whose specifically only intent is to serve you alcohol, there is nothing else there other than alcohol then donât carry the firearm inside there.â
Neptune Beach Police have said that while the new concealed carry laws have recently changed in Florida as of Jul. 1, 2023, it is very important that everyone understands the law and how you can and cannot legally carry a firearm.
The law has chief Key concerned because he doesnât know if people fully understand it.
âThe issue here is the education aspect is no longer a requirement so itâs on the citizen for them to be informed on where they can or canât go,â Key said.
In a message to the public, NBPD released the following statement:
âDrinking inside a bar with a firearm is a recipe for disaster. The NBPD has a zero tolerance for this type of violation. You will be arrested and your arrest will be highlighted on our social media platforms. If youâre going to drink, leave the gun at home!â
